Networks First partners with the YMCA to provide new space for residents
Redditch, 20 July 2011 – Redditch-based Networks First, an independent network support services provider, has partnered with the support department and residents of Redditch YMCA to revitalise the common areas in the local supported accommodation.
Networks First was introduced to the YMCA through a national charity called Business in the Community (BITC). BITC facilitate bringing together local charities with businesses in the nearby area.
The YMCA is the largest and oldest youth charity in the world and believes that all young people deserve to have a safe place to live and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Run over two days, around 20 people from Networks First donned their overalls and grabbed their paint brushes to help prepare and decorate key areas of the building including, the resources centre, games area, chill-out and TV area, entrance and foyer.
Sara Gemmell, managing director at Networks First, comments: “Networks First is constantly looking at ways to become involved with the wider community. When this opportunity came along we thought it would be a great chance for our employees to support young people in the region.”
Victoria Davies, youth support team leader at the Redditch YMCA, comments: “The project has made a big difference to the YMCA. Networks First really listened to what we wanted and has provided the residents with a common area to be proud of.”
YMCA resident Oliver Prewitt said: “I would like to thank everyone from Networks First who got involved in the project, they have transformed our common room in to an area that we really want to spend time in.”
